……….

We understand zumba as a set of aerobics moviments to the beat of different musical styles moves wich  aimed is weight loss, muscle strengthening and toning. During a training session in which we have fun exercising, we can see that zumba achieves its objectives. You have fun, burn fat and tone the body with the effect of repetition aerobic movements in classes of about 60 minutes.

But, why we not consider it as dance?

Unlike this, zumba seeks a clear goal: to improve your mood along with physical exertion that helps to find us healthier and healthy but is this the goal of what we know as a professional dance?

Absolutely no. Dance is part of the personal cultural criteria, is considered art, it brings values, a feeling and understand it as one of the most beautiful ways to express.

Take for example the Afro-Rumba dancers. Culturally we start from a base with a distinct religious current, its principles and objectives are totally different to those we find in zumba,  and is the same in others like classical dance. Is art in motion.

Being totally different things, and none better than the other, we can say that zumba and dance are not the same. Both beneficial for the body, but with totally different aims and feelings.
